To show how the visions of Revelation are to reordered, timelines are probably the best method. Unfortunately, dozens of different timelines can be created to show this reordering. I will begin by showing timelines, each showing at least PERIOD 1 & PERIOD 2, from previous chapters. All the timelines are in agreement, but each shows a different aspect to the order of the visions. The first will simply demonstrate the relationship between the three major “3 ½ year” periods mentioned in Revelation. The second demonstrates how a general chronology of Revelation relates to several OT and NT prophecies and scriptures. The third shows how the seven seals, vials and plagues relate to each other. The final timeline shows a chapter by chapter flow of visions from chapter 4 of Revelation to its last. From these charts, one can completely understand the true order of the visions of Revelation & how they are to be “unraveled.”
Timeline #1 & 2: The 3.5 Year Timespans vs the The First Two Periods
Or, from a different perspective...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Timeline #3: The Timeline in Revelation vs the Timelines of other NT and OT prophecies
++++++++++++++++++++++++ Timeline #4: The Seven Seals, Trumpet, and Vials vs the Two Main Periods
++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Timeline #5: The Visions of Revelation Chapter by Chapter - Unraveled The following chart shows each vision in relation to the key time periods. If read from left to right, this chart shows how each vision falls within each period. If each column is read from top to bottom, the chart reveals the true chronological flow of the book of revelation. As you will see, although this is a unique interpretation, especially regarding the division of the seven seals, trumpets, and plagues, the resulting chronology flows easily and logically, unlike previous models.
This interpretation of Revelation is “order out of chaos” and fulfills four important rules for Reordering the Revelation:. Rule #1) The Visions of the Book of Revelation, in general, move chronologically forward but may recapitulate. Rule #2) Events described within one vision proceed chronologically forward, BUT may recapitulate other events in the same vision. Rule #3) Events in separate Visions that are described using similar phrases are clues that they may describe the same event Rule #4) Ultimately, although the book of Revelation is a series of progressive and recapitulative Visions, there must be a final pattern and order to these Visions. |
